The Trade Description (Articles Made of Precious Metals) Regulations 1994 further specifies the requirements for jewellery made from precious metals, such as gold, silver, and platinum. Under Regulation 4, every gold article must be clearly marked with its purity level using Arabic numerals, specifying the percentage of fine gold in the article. Jewellery pieces under 1.5 grams are exempt from this rule.

1. Every article made of precious metal that is supplied or offered for supply by any person in the course of trade or business shall clearly and indelibly by marked in Arabic numerals in dictating the standard of fineness of the precious metal content a specified in the First Schedule.

2. Each numerical mark specified in subregulation (1) shall not be smaller than 0.6 millimeter in height and breadth.

3. These regulations shall not apply to any article which is less than 1.5 grammes in weight and is of a size which is so small or thin as to render the marking there of impracticable.

Regulation 7 specifies the fineness of solder used in the production of gold jewellery. For example, when making 999 gold jewellery, the solder must have a fineness of no less than 950 parts per thousand.
第7条规定了黄金饰品生产中使用的焊料纯度。例如，在制作999黄金饰品时，焊料的纯度不得低于950/1000。
The use of solder in respect of an article made of precious metal of gold shall be as follows:
关于贵金属制品的焊料使用规定如下：
(a) If an article is of a standard of fineness of 999, the fineness of the solder used shall not be less than 950 parts per thousand.
• 若饰品的纯度为 999，则焊料的纯度不得低于 950。
(b) If an article is of a standard of fineness of 950, the fineness of the solder used shall not be less than 875 parts per thousand.
• 若饰品的纯度为 950，则焊料的纯度不得低于 875。
(c) If an article is of a standard of fineness of 916.6, 875 or 835, the fineness of the solder used shall not be less than 835 parts per thousand.
• 若饰品的纯度为 916.6、875 或 835，则焊料的纯度不得低于 835。
(d) If an article is of a standard of fineness below 835, the fineness of the solder used shall not be of the same standard of fineness as the article.

(1) Any person who in course of trade or business supplies or offer to supply any articles made of precious metal shall, at the time of supply, deliver to the person to whom the article is supplied receipt which shall contain the following particulars:
任何人在进行经营、供应或售卖贵金属制品时，须提供发票，并注明以下详情：
(a) the full name and address of supplier.

(b) the date of purchase，

(c) the name and type of the article.

(i) the signature of the sales personnel; and
(i) 售货员签名
(j) A description of the parts of the article consisting of a precious metal of different standards of fineness, if appropriate.

(2). The Particulars required under the subregulation (1) shall be in national language.
